Ghostwire: Link to the Paranormal is a planned augmented reality ghost hunting game exclusive to the Nintendo DSi, which was repeatedly delayed due to difficulty finding a publisher willing to release the game. The game was intended to use the Nintendo DSi as a "portal to the astral plane" to "help you find and collect ghosts that exist all around you". Eventually, the inventor of the software used for the game, Åke Bergman, went missing.
During the summer, his messages to the development team gradually became incoherent, and he eventually stopped communicating altogether. Despite this, he continued to check in code and update his Facebook and Twitter accounts from an unknown location.[1] Following Bergman's disappearance, Ghostwire's creative director, Tom Söderlund, said the following:
"We are concerned what might have happened to Åke, but at the same time very excited about the product. We can now successfully tune in spirits and paranormal currents and hope to use the software to locate him. The augmented reality view is amazing and simply has to be seen to be believed."
