Blockout is a puzzle game similar to Tetris, but using a 3D grid. It was originally created by Polish game developer Aleksander Ustaszewski, and released on several platforms, including DOS, Amiga, and the Sega Genesis. An NES version was planned, but eventually cancelled.
A prototype of the NES version was found at a Goodwill[1] by Jim Cook, a game collector. Another collector, Steve Lin, bought the game for $2,000 in a public auction in 2012 and later dumped the ROM for the general public. A second prototype eventually surfaced, although it's identical to the first one.
