Seiken Densetsu: The Emergence of Excalibur (聖剣伝説 THE EMERGENCE OF EXCALIBUR, meaning Holy Sword Legend: The Emergence of Excalibur) is a canceled role-playing game for the Famicom Disk System. The game was planned to be a huge series with up to 5 discs. The development involved Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of Final Fantasy, and Sakaguchi says that the reason for being canceled was because the project was too grand for the disk system.[1] Seiken Densetsu is a story where the protagonist goes on a journey looking for the holy sword Excalibur to defeat the evil Vulgus who controls Birdos Island. AI is introduced, and up to four parties can participate. Each character who participates in the main character's party takes action independently under the control of AI.
